The Hallmark: The Condicote Village Newsletter, 1997-

The first Hallmark went out in December1997 with the brief to keep villagers informed about progress with the ambitious plan to replace the old wooden village hall with a spacious new building. Initially just a single page listing village events, it rapidly expanded under the enthusiastic editorship of the late Bill Dagnall to include reports on events and some fascinating articles on the history of Condicote. By Issue 12 more than £20,000 had been raised by villagers but much more was still needed and so imagine the excitement when in Issue 16 the Hallmark announced a Community Fund Grant of £125,000 and building work could begin. With the opening of the building by the Princess Royal in January 2003 the emphasis could shift so that now after more than a hundred issues a gathering together of the past numbers provides villagers, both old and new, with a picture of our community over the last quarter of a century and some fascinating insights into our extraordinary history.

On this page you will find the latest issue. Using the drop down menu above you will soon be able to access all of the previous numbers. We are also planning to add in the next few weeks copies of the Village Newsletter that preceded the Hallmark. As the site develops we will be adding some of the best articles on the history of the village to the History section.
